How anxiety tends to show up for Connecticut clients

Anxiety looks different depending on the life it’s attached to. These are patterns that come up often with people living and working in Connecticut.

Work anxiety that won’t log off

Finance, law, insurance, healthcare, academia — demanding fields where the stakes feel high every day. The worry follows you home, into the weekend, and into bed. You’re good at your job; the anxiety is the cost of staying that way.

The Sunday-night dread

The week hasn’t started, but your body already thinks it has. A tight chest on Sunday evening, running through Monday’s meetings before they happen, scrolling email you can’t act on yet.

Performance pressure and imposter feelings

Surrounded by high achievers — in a Stamford office, a New Haven lab, or a Yale or UConn classroom — it’s easy to feel like the only one faking it. That belief drives over-preparation, procrastination, and a lot of quiet panic.

Worry about the people you’re responsible for

Parents juggling careers and kids, adult children worried about aging parents, managers responsible for teams. Caring a lot becomes constant scanning for what could go wrong.

Health anxiety and body symptoms

A racing heart, tension headaches, stomach trouble, a doctor who says you’re fine — and a mind that doesn’t believe it. Physical anxiety is real anxiety, and it responds to treatment.

Sleep that anxiety has taken over

Trouble falling asleep, waking at 3 a.m. with a full to-do list in your head, or sleeping and still waking up tired. Sleep is often one of the first things to improve when anxiety does.

If several of these feel familiar, you don’t have to wait for things to get worse or slow down. Anxiety is one of the most treatable problems people bring to therapy.

How TEAM-CBT treats anxiety

TEAM-CBT is a structured form of cognitive behavioral therapy developed by Dr. David Burns. It’s built for people who want practical tools and visible progress, not open-ended talk.

Measured progress, every session

You complete a short anxiety and mood scale at the start and end of each session. We both see whether the work is helping, in numbers — useful for analytical people who want evidence, not reassurance.

Feeling understood first

Anxiety doesn’t respond to being told to relax. We start by understanding what the worry is actually about and why it makes sense to you, before trying to change anything.

Looking at what the anxiety protects

Anxiety often feels like it’s keeping you prepared, responsible, or safe. Naming what part of you wants to keep it — honestly — is often what lets the rest of the work stick.

Specific techniques you use between sessions

We test the thoughts driving the anxiety and gradually stop the avoidance that keeps it going. You leave each session with something concrete to practice on the train, at your desk, or before a big meeting.

How it works for Connecticut clients

Everything happens by secure video, scheduled around how your week actually runs.

1

Free 15-minute consult

A short call to talk through what’s going on and how I work, and to decide together whether we’re a good fit. No paperwork or card needed.

2

90-minute first session

An in-depth assessment: what triggers the anxiety, where it shows up in your body and your schedule, what you’ve already tried, and what you want to be different. You leave with a baseline score and a first tool to try.

3

Weekly 50-minute sessions

From home, a parked car, or anywhere private in Connecticut. Commuters often book early mornings, work-from-home days, or evenings once they’re back in the state.

Frequently asked questions

Do I have to be in Connecticut for sessions?

Yes — you need to be physically in Connecticut (or another state where Rose is licensed: California, Maine, Rhode Island, or Vermont) at the time of each session. Where you live doesn’t matter as much as where you are when we meet.

I commute to New York City. Can I do sessions from my office?

Not from New York — Rose isn’t licensed there. Most Connecticut commuters schedule sessions on work-from-home days, early before the train, or in the evening once they’re home. We’ll find a time that works during the consult.

Does my Connecticut insurance cover anxiety therapy with you?

Better Thoughts is out-of-network. Many Connecticut PPO plans — including plans from Anthem Blue Cross Blue Shield, ConnectiCare, Aetna, Cigna, and UnitedHealthcare — offer out-of-network mental-health benefits that reimburse part of each session after your deductible. We provide superbills on request; see the reimbursement guide for step-by-step instructions.

How much does it cost?

The consult is free. Sessions are $260 for a standard 50-minute session. Many clients with PPO plans get part of that back through out-of-network reimbursement, and HSA and FSA cards are accepted.

Will my employer find out I’m in therapy?

No. Better Thoughts is a private practice, completely separate from your employer and any Employee Assistance Program. Federal health-privacy law restricts employers from seeing individual medical claims.

How long does anxiety therapy take?

It varies, but TEAM-CBT is designed to be efficient. Many people notice meaningful change within the first several sessions, and because we measure anxiety every session, you can see whether it’s working rather than guessing.

Can I keep my psychiatrist or medication?

Yes. Therapy works well alongside medication. Rose doesn’t prescribe, but is glad to coordinate with your Connecticut prescriber with your permission.

Anxiety therapy across five states

All sessions are telehealth. If you live, work, or study in any of these states, we can work together.

Related concerns

Anxiety rarely shows up in isolation. These are the patterns that most often run alongside it — and that we may end up working on together.
